Patent Ochsner is one of the best-known Swiss dialect bands, founded in 1990 by Büne Huber in Bern. The band combines rock, pop and folk with profound, often melancholy lyrics in Bernese German, which revolve around themes such as love, transience and life. Their sound is characterized by catchy melodies, poetic lyrics and versatile instrumentation, which often includes wind instruments and strings.
Their breakthrough came in 1991 with the album “Schlachtplatte”, which included the hit “Bälpmoos”. Other milestones include “Gmües” (1994) with songs such as “W. Nuss vo Bümpliz” and “Liebi, Tod & Tüüfu” (1998). More recent albums such as “Johnny” (2012) and “Cut Up” (2019) also demonstrate the band’s creative energy.
Patent Ochsner enjoy cult status in the Swiss music scene and are known for their rousing live performances. Their music appeals to generations of fans and remains a formative part of the Swiss music landscape.
